THE COOLER BUZZ: I Read the Forums So You Can Keep Up!
My dears, a word of caution. Please remember that when meeting the Queen of England, one must always use the genteel phrase “How do you do,” rather than the colloquial “Pleased to meet you.” Also, one simply must not ask Her Majesty for her royal opinion on the recent break-up of Wills and Kate. It’s simply not done! If you will be attending the Kentucky Derby, and find that you have an allergy to equine dander, do not approach Her Royal Highness to ask if she might be carrying a package of Kleenex in her ever-present purse. In short, Royal Misfits are to be on their best behavior for the visit of Queen Elizabeth II and at the Kentucky Derby where she will be in royal attendance. Obviously, this will be a bit of a challenge as the Misfits have been known to be more “Fergie” than “Camilla,” particularly these past two weeks when the mischievous Misfits have been Royally prolific. So, don your hats (but do leave your hat pins at home to avoid the temptation to poke someone in the eye) and join me for a spot of tea as we review the adventures of the Royals at the races!
Of course, anyone watching The Race this weekend will want to sit in the same box as the Misfits of the Elliott Thread at General Music Discussion. 40 Royals crammed into the thread to continuing cheering on AI5’s dark horse, Elliott Yamin. This week, there was plenty to cheer about. Alab, poorme, and jag provided sales and spin stats on Elliott’s album and single “Wait for You.” They broke the news that the single is about to break into the Top 40 and is to be introduced on American Top 40 on the weekend of May 19! Seen drinking mint juleps and buzzing about this news were ynot, LLParker, lily Anne, and Ingo685. In another corner, admiring one another’s bonnets and boaters were Kelliott, Elizabeth, and Delia88. They had much to say, themselves, about Elliott’s own over-worn cap. Meanwhile, Cdd81 provided us with details of her own meeting with Elliott where she provided him with a new hat just in time for The Derby! Check out page 206 of the thread for her report along with some most excellent pictures of the Season 5 favorite. Every race day party needs music, and daif provided some Mp3s for our listening pleasure. A cheer went up in the crowd at the arrivals of Jabu and Bluebomb, missing in action of late! They joined Zapped, Mr. Phibbs, ssuussaann and Janizzle in discussing Elliott’s maiden album. Naturally, dcjersey, incidior, Laclos, and Laura Petrie were easily distracted by the crowds and cheers, so veered off-topic discussing such things as Sheryl Crowes toilet paper regulation plan. (Of note: One is never to use the word “toilet” in front of the Queen. Just ask Kate Middleton’s mother.) Alab snapped them to attention with a little prank (which won‘t be shared here. You simply MUST read the thread to find out!). Do join the gang for more Elliott talk, but you must hurry! They’re just starting the first verse of “My Old Kentucky Home.” Time to cheer Elliott on to win, place, or show in the CD sales race with the other Season 5 Idols.

Zapped and cebe fill out their racing forms while grooving on Amy Winehouse.
Naturally, the most exciting section of the stands were over in the American Idol 6 threads. With the field down to the Final 6 Redux, everyone was hoping their personal favorite is the chalk. Many are sure theirs will pull ahead at the backstretch. A crowd of 30 or so gathered in the Bon Jovi thread to watch the horserace. Captured Castle, Tdouglas, and E-ternally proudly wore Blake’s colors, while a group including LiteraryKate, JRLabrador, Trudi, and Puppy Pundit watched how it all played out while sipping cocktails. Shnuglet waved a Melinda banner, while Kelliott cringed at Crich. Fly, Murghi, dcjersey, and incidior discussed the possible doping of one of the racers….Jordin, maybe? Laura Petrie, ynot, Alab, and Zapped held their breaths as the racers headed for the finish the line. It’s Melinda, Blake, Jordin, and Lakisha by a nose! Phil and Chris were longshots. Popping in to say hello to the crew was The Trix Rabbit, who has been greatly missed! Progressive also paid a visit and escorted Whatevia to the after-race shindig as his date. Whatevia was highly unimpressed with the entire proceedings.
Some prefer to watch The Race on the big screen, so a quit jaunt to the On Screen Forum revealed Caberethed, Tdoug, Laclos, Moon, and dcjersey engrossed in the Heroes thread. Incidior and Captured Castle joined the group, along with minneyfan, Alab, and Delia88 helping to make it one of the fastest moving TV threads. Meanwhile, JRLabrador, Blue Vernon, lilefan, and Laurie Mae yucked it up in The Office thread. Number1elliottfan, Rinda, and AJ Violet are trying to uncover the secret of Lost, while LLParker revealed pictures of her future husband, Michael, in the NCIS thread. She was joined by the recently arrived harmonic collision (who has a great avi….), AJViolet, and lily Anne.
Well, my dears. There are so many social events to attend when the British Royals are in country, that one must always be prepared for a last minute invite to dine with Her Majesty. Off to my curtsy lesson! Do visit the Royal Misfits threads this week, my darlings. After all, I simply can’t gossip about you if you aren’t there!
